EL students hike to Bhundole 2024

The Experiential Learning students went on a hike to the Bhundole ground on 22nd June. The purpose of this visit was to explore real environmental problems, critically analyse the causes and impact, and conduct a cleanup activity. This field visit helped the students cultivate a sense of responsibility towards the environment and empowered them to take practical steps toward building a cleaner, greener future.

A total of 21 Experiential Learning students from grades eight, nine, and ten went on a field visit with Amics staff and an intern. The children were eager to observe and analyse the environmental conditions firsthand and to play an active role in improving the local environment through clean-up activities. This activity provided a unique opportunity to merge outdoor exploration with environmental stewardship. As they hiked to their destination, Bhundole Ground, the students collected litter and garbage, reinforcing the importance of preserving natural spaces. Additionally, the children displayed banners they had crafted to raise awareness among visitors about waste-related environmental issues, showcasing their learning and commitment to sustainability.

To conclude, this field visit served as a catalyst for the students to have more exposure to their first-quarter theme of environment and sustainability. It also prompted them to critically reflect on environmental issues, particularly littering, and consider solutions to address these problems.

The upcoming field visit will continue to focus on the theme of environment and sustainability, with a specific emphasis on plastic and packaging.
