Amor Children’s Home in Mahendranagar

AMOR CHILDREN HOME (H3) is located in the town of Mahendranagar, the ninth city of Nepal in the western part of the country just 5 km away from the Indian border and the door to the Shuklaphanta National Park.

The children home is a private centre built in 1996 and was expanded during 2001 and 2002, thanks to private donations from the members of Amics del Nepal.

Children Home (CH) – the organization that manages Amor Children Home, was established in 1989 with the aim of providing a home and education to the street children in Kathmandu. In 1999, Amor CH was established in Mahendranagar for boys only, while the girls stayed in Patan Children Home in Kathmandu valley.

Today the centre at Mahendranagar hosts about 35 children who are mostly orphans or belong to families with low financial resources. All children are schooled in the Florida International Boarding School that is close to the centre.

Amics del Nepal has been collaborating with the financial expenses of the centre since its foundation, apart from sending volunteers regularly in order to provide health and educational programs as well as to improve the infrastructure.
