Expansion Program Women Literacy (WLP)

WLP Level 1 Book Distribution

Women Literacy classes in Kathmandu resumed on 29th July with a new group of women. These women are Amics’ Youth and Children Program beneficiaries’ mothers and women from the local community. Currently, there are altogether 15 women who are participating in the Women Literacy Project. Among them, 14 are entirely new and 1 is our previous beneficiary. These women are new learners who do not have any literacy background. From August, classes are being conducted physically every Saturday for two hours from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM at Amics Activity Centre where women learn and develop basic Nepali reading and writing skills.
On 5th August, the first level of WLP books were distributed among these women. They were also provided with stationery materials along with bags for their classes. The WLP level 1 book includes basic Nepali phonetics, words, and simple sentences. Aside from literacy classes, women will get exposure to movies, field trips, and health workshops. The project hopes that these books will help women enhance their literacy skills.

This project is possible thanks to the support of all the members of Amics del Nepal and the collaborating partners:
