Development Hour is a youth project of Amics del Nepal initiated in 2019 with the aim to develop and train staff and interns through necessary exposure to various events, seminars, exhibitions, field visits, & other training as well as some refreshment activities. The project also aims at creating a supportive workplace and helping achieve personal goals & skills of the employees.
On February 17th, the staff and interns from Kathmandu Activity Centre went on a trip to Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The purpose of the trip was to bring the staff and interns together and to celebrate the new year 2023. Visiting new places like this is also a great way to learn and discover new things. It was a great experience especially for the interns because they are not used to these kinds of exposure. Also, it was an opportunity to bond with senior staff.
During the visit, we got to see many different temples and architectural designs which were preserved from many years. The staff and interns were really interested in looking at the beautiful carvings and designs on the temples and buildings. We also watched local artists teach tourists how to make pottery and saw many beautiful pottery pieces being shaped and decorated, then left to dry in the sun. Lastly, we tried some delicious local Newari food, including the sweet treats juju dhau and kulfi.
Additionally, this visit allowed us to provide staff and interns with hands-on experience in cultural preservation efforts, encouraging their professional development.
This project is possible thanks to the support of all the members of Amics del Nepal and the collaborating partners:
