Nepal is a country with a markedly religious population. A large majority of the Nepali population, around 80%, is Hindu, and about 10% declare themselves Buddhist. However, religious minorities such as Islam and Christianity are respected and the main holidays of these religions are also national holidays.
A good example is Christmas Day, although it is not celebrated by a majority of the population, it is an official holiday.
At Patan Children’s Home we have not missed the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with a good meal and a gift for each child and youngster in the house. And above all, we do not want to miss the opportunity to wish you all Happy Holidays and a new year full of health, happiness and solidarity!
