Educational Workshop on Cyber Bullying atPatan Children’s Home

In  the 21st century, almost every young child has access to the internet through mobile phones, laptops or computers. As we give them these facilities, it is also important to make them aware of cyber crimes and the negative impacts of the internet. Cyber bullying is an important topic to discuss with young children because they are on the internet, whether studying, surfing, or playing games. Therefore, to raise awareness on this very topic, a workshop was conducted at Patan Children’s Home on November 26.

The children in grades nine and above from Patan Children’s Home were the main participants of the workshop.  They were introduced to cyber bullying through a powerpoint presentation and a short video. After the introduction to cyberbullying, the children were also shown how they could be safe and actions to take in such cases. All the  children were intrigued by the topic and they also started sharing some of their experiences. The 40 minute workshop was closed with a reflection activity where the children shared some possible actions to be taken when someone is being cyberbullied as they had learned throughout the workshop. These children were already exposed to the topic during a drama show (Wifi Shutdown) presented by Amics Youth the previous week. However, this workshop made them more clear on the topic. Amics del Nepal will continue providing such educational workshops in the future as well.

This project is possible thanks to the support of all the members of Amics del Nepal and the collaborating partners:
