WLP Mahendranagar – June 2019: Closing Event

On 30th November, a six month literacy program was started in Katan and Haldukhal of Mahendranagar. Altogether there were 26 participants in each group who joined the classes. With the completion of the course, a closing event was organized on 14th June in both these implementing sites.
In the six months’ course, the women learned to read and write Nepali words. Now they are even able to read paragraphs. Some of the women were also able to learn English alphabets and perform some mathematical calculations like addition and subtraction.
During the closing program, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the facilitators and women who actively took part and made this program successful. On the closing day, women shared their experiences of joining classes and what they learned during the whole session. They were really happy with the opportunity they received to learn how to read and write. Some of the women are even interested to continue the course and go on to the next level. Thus organizing this literacy program has encouraged many of the women to educate themselves for their own and their families’ well-being too.
