On Saturday, October 6 we celebrated a solidarity dinner in Vilassar de Mar organized by the Grup Òlvia (alternative, ecological, ethical, responsible and proximity consumption group) at Casal Popular Atzari.
At 6 in the afternoon, the most punctual person reached to help cooking. And in half an hour we had a team of 15 people cutting vegetables and preparing the dough with the roll.
We did not know how many people would come, Vilassar people seems to like to improvise. But Esther and Joan were well prepared. They have had good training in Nepal for flexibility and adaptation (see their project at Panauti: https://www.facebook.com/subharambhaorganic/).
As the time went by, the plates of prepared food increased, but also the number of people waiting, with culinary talks, about Nepal and many more issues.
It’s 8.30 and we have it all ready. We prepared all the tables we had available and were surrounded by 72 people with the desire to taste new dishes and to collaborate with a good cause.
Vegetables, chicken, “pakhodas” and “puris”, everything with a taste of ginger and Nepalese spices. Manisha and Yangjien (just arrived from Nepal) sang some songs and then it was the time of the desserts and the “dud ko chyia” (Nepali tea with milk).
Everyone helped clean up with a happy smile. It has been a very pleasant evening and surely we will repeat it next year. Thank you very much to everyone!
Thanks to the fact that Joan and Esther had previously been able to collect the money for dinner expenses, we made a total of € 962.9 for the Amics del Nepal projects in this magic night!
The next solidarity meal will be a momos dinner in Benicarló, where it will surely be a great success, because it is organized by Tonyo and La Penya Setrill.
