Patan Children Home provides care and education to needy children and infants. Each year, Amics del Nepal organises various events aimed at engaging the children of Patan in educational activities focused on health and education. On November 16th, students from the Experiential Learning (EL) project visited the Children’s Home to showcase their theme-based performances focused on “Environment and Sustainability.” This event was designed to introduce the importance of protecting the environment and adopting sustainable practices to the children. Arts, drama, songs, and presentations were used as a medium to teach the children about environmental awareness and foster a sense of unity and care for nature.
The event was led by 10 EL students, and was attended by approximately 29 children and staff members from Patan Children’s Home. During the event, the EL students showcased their learning through an engaging array of activities, including presentations, dramatic performances, musical dramas, and testimonies. These performances conveyed the message of improper disposal of plastic waste and packaging and showed different ways to segregate waste, which helped raise awareness among the participants about environmental responsibility. The audience was engaged and showed great interest in the different waste disposal methods and the lifecycle of plastics presented by the students.
The event concluded with valuable feedback from the audience, who appreciated the creativity and effort put into the performances. A banner created by EL students focused on proper waste disposal, which was gifted to the Patan Children’s Home, further reinforcing the theme of environmental sustainability. The event not only provided an opportunity to learn about waste disposal methods at Patan Children’s Home, but also environmental awareness and strengthened the bond between the children. It was a meaningful experience that instilled a lasting sense of responsibility towards the environment in everyone involved.
