Field visit to Himgiri Permaculture Farm

On Friday, 14th July, PBL6 students went on a field visit to Himgiri Permaculture Farm. The visit included ten beneficiaries, accompanied by two staff members. The primary goal was to expose participants to environmental issues and the concept of sustainability.

The students toured the farm and learned about the importance of organic practices under the guidance of the farm owner; Nima Yangchen Hyolomo, who generously shared her knowledge and skills. Emphasis was placed on utilising natural fertilisers, avoiding pesticides, and supporting biodiversity. The farm owner also discussed critical environmental problems caused by human activities, which align with our PBL6 theme, “Environment and Sustainability.”

A hearty lunch prepared on the farm, together with fresh fruit, was served to the students. The farm had a huge space and an abundance of different species of fruits and vegetables. A significant portion of the farm is dedicated to strawberry farming, where the owner allowed  children to pick and eat the strawberries. The beneficiaries were overjoyed as they experienced harvesting strawberries directly from the farm.

Overall, the visit was both delightful and educational for the staff and the beneficiaries. Amics del Nepal will continue to conduct field visits to our beneficiaries, exposing them to various exhibitions and sports facilities, fostering community exchange and learning.

This project is possible thanks to the support of all the members of Amics del Nepal and the collaborating partners:
