A health workshop was conducted on 20th of January on the topic of Mental Health with the beneficiaries of Kathmandu’s Women Literacy Project (WLP). There were a total of 16 women who participated in the workshop. Women from lower socioeconomic levels and those who live in developing nations like Nepal, generally lack comprehensive knowledge about mental health issues. The main objective of this workshop was therefore to provide basic information related to mental health to these women.
After this workshop, women were better aware about mental health and factors affecting it, common mental illnesses in women, and ways for better prevention. The workshop was informative as the topic was completely new to some of the women. Women appeared to be actively engaged in the session by responding eagerly to questions and making relevant enquiries. At the end of the workshop, a set of winter hygiene packages were distributed to the women which consisted of a muffler, socks, gloves, and Vaseline. In summary, the workshop was an interactive awareness activity wherein women were happy to share their understanding and learn about the interesting topic.
This project is possible thanks to the support of all the members of Amics del Nepal and the collaborating partners:
