The women literacy classes started this year at Bhimphedi Rural Municipality to support women’s basic reading and writing skills, and their basic health hygiene through various workshops and activities.
On July 10th, a basic health workshop was organised for the literacy class group at Bhimphedi. This is the first health workshop that Amics del Nepal has organised for its new beneficiaries. There were a total of 17 participants including 2 staff members. The main objective of the workshop was to make women aware of the importance of hygiene and basic care. For example, washing your hands, covering your face with your hands when you sneeze, washing your hair, brushing and flossing your teeth, applying deodorant, and changing your bedsheets. The session incorporated videos and a few physical exercises to teach the participants about the matter. A set of hygiene packs was also distributed to each participant at the end of the workshop which consisted of towel, talcum powder, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, nail clipper, and comb in an effort to promote personal hygiene. Because the health workshop was being attended for the first time by the majority of the women, it was exciting, engaging, and educational.
This project is possible thanks to the support of all the members of Amics de Nepal and the collaborating partners:
