Family Support Project Based Learning (PBL)

PBL Family Meeting

On the 4th of July Amics del Nepal organised a family meeting with the new PBL beneficiary’s parents and guardians at the Amics Activity Centre. The main objective of this meeting was to share and discuss issues related to their children, and to state the roles of parents and their expectations from Amics PBL facilitators.

There are a total of 20 students in PBL 6 & 7. 20 parents and guardians attended the meeting including three family support beneficiaries. Unlike last year, some male guardians also took the initiative to join the meeting which is a good change. The meeting started with a short discussion about their children participating at the Activity Centre. After a brief orientation to the Amics Grant Agreement and PBL project, a human knot activity was conducted to energise the participants and bring them together as a team. After the warm-up activity, a small empathy session was conducted where the parents had to cherish the beautiful moments they spend with their children. The parents and guardians expressed their moments through poems, drawings, and letters. The empathy activity was effective as all the parents started sharing their beautiful moments with their children and were more open and comfortable with each other.

As this was the first meeting with the new PBL batch of 2022-2023, all the attendees were well-oriented about our children’s program. They were very enthusiastic and cooperative. We hope that the workshops and training we provide will enable the families to develop a better understanding and create an environment inducive to their children’s overall benefit and growth.

This project is possible thanks to the support of all the members of Amics de Nepal and the collaborating partners:
