The world is going through a crucial moment of global pandemic COVID-19 and amidst the situation of nationwide lockdown, many people especially the daily wage earners have been directly affected worldwide. On July 21, the Government of Nepal announced the decision to end the nationwide complete lockdown that had been imposed from 24th March while the cases of COVID-19 are still increasing with new cases every day.
Even though the government decided to ease the lockdown, people are facing difficulties to come back to normality after almost 4 months of lockdown. Since most of the sectors are still closed, people are facing unemployment, migrant workers who have returned are trying to find new jobs and many families are still struggling for basic food and hygiene supplies.
With regard to this situation, we once again reached out to the parents of our beneficiaries to follow-up about our students and families. After analyzing the families’ situation, Amics del Nepal provided a second round of basic food supplies to the families depending upon the size of the family and needs. The relief materials provided consisted of rice, lentils, beaten rice, flour, oil, salt and soap. Along with this, families were also provided with direct cash to support expenses for cooking fuel. The relief materials were provided to 25 families of Amics’ beneficiaries in Amics’ Kathmandu Activity Centre in Chabahil on 26th July 2020.
The Kathmandu team would like to thank you for all your support in making this relief work possible:
