Children Program Experiential Learning (EL)

EL Field Visit to Women for Human Rights Nepal

On February 21st, 2025, nineteen students from the Experiential Learning (EL) program, including grades eight, nine, and ten, participated in an organizational visit accompanied by Amics del Nepal staff and interns to Women for Human Rights, Single Women Group (WHR Nepal), Budhanilkhantha. The objective of the visit was to enhance students’ understanding of single women’s rights and broader issues concerning women’s rights in Nepal.

Founded in 1994, WHR Nepal is a non-governmental organization dedicated to advocating for the rights and dignity of single women (widows) while addressing gender-based discrimination and social injustices. The organization works to empower women through legal support, policy advocacy, skill development programs, and economic opportunities, ensuring their active participation in society.

During the visit, students engaged in insightful discussions about the challenges faced by single women and the initiatives taken by WHR Nepal to advocate for their rights. They had the opportunity to conduct a Q&A session and survey with the program head, allowing them to gain firsthand knowledge of the organization’s efforts in policy reform, empowerment programs, and community outreach. This interactive experience enabled students to critically analyze societal structures and the need for continued advocacy for gender equality.

This field visit provided valuable exposure to real-world issues, aligning with the student’s ongoing exploration of women’s rights in their Experiential Learning sessions. As the students prepare for upcoming EL sessions, the knowledge and perspectives gained from WHR Nepal will contribute to their discussions and final event centered around the fourth-quarter theme of women’s rights.

This project is possible thanks to the support of all the members of Amics del Nepal and the collaborating partners:
