In this crucial moment of global pandemic – COVID-19 (Corona Virus) and amidst the situation of nationwide lockdown, many people have been directly affected especially those who are daily wage earners. Since the lockdown has been extending for the past three months and counting, people have already started to run out of basic food supplies and are struggling to sustain. This has brought problems to most of our beneficiaries and their families who belong to low income households, most of whom are dependent on daily wages.
With regard to the situation, we reached out to the parents of our beneficiaries to know about our students and the effect of lockdown in their daily lives. After being updated on the families’ situations, Amics del Nepal decided to provide some basic food supplies to the families depending on the size of the family. The relief materials provided consisted of rice, lentils, beaten rice, oil, salt and soap. Along with this, families were also provided with direct cash to support towards expenses for cooking fuel. The relief materials were provided to 25 families of Amics’ beneficiaries in Amics’ Kathmandu Activity Centre in Chabahil on 2nd June, 2020.
Help us to continue providing this much-needed help for the coming months with a contribution and sharing of our crowdfunding campaign we have launched!
