On 22nd May, Mrs. Nima Yangchen Hyolmo was hosted as a guest speaker at the Activity Centre for the students of After SEE Course (SW11). The session aims for providing valuable insights into environmental sustainability through agriculture. Twenty youth students along with 4 staff members participated in the session.
Mrs Nima Hyolmo, a permaculturist who is passionate in farming and agriculture shared her experiences and introduced the concept of permaculture and sustainable farming practices through her powerpoint presentation, using real life examples and interactive discussion to enhance critical thinking and communication skills. This session was fruitful in broadening the youth knowledge and encouraging critical thinking on environmental sustainability.
After the discussion, a podcast session was conducted by one of the enthusiastic youth. In the podcast session, the host asked about her inspiring journey with permaculture and the struggle behind that endeavor. As well she shared her personal journey from becoming a permaculturist, highlighting the challenges and joys of her path. Following the podcast, an open Q&A round was held where the students threw questions on topics ranging from the technical, ecological and economical aspects of permaculture.
The session was not only deeply inspiring youth about agriculture and its relevance. It created an engaging and empowering learning environment.
