Patan Children Home is a shelter in Sano Khokana dedicated to care and education to underprivileged children and infants, giving them a safe place to learn and grow. On April 5, 2025, nine students from the Experiential Learning (EL) program, accompanied by three staff members, hosted a meaningful event at Patan Children’s Home centered on Women’s Rights. The EL program proudly hosts this event twice a year, fostering learning and connection with the children. The purpose of the event was to share knowledge about equality, fairness, and the importance of respecting women’s rights in an engaging and approachable way.
The program began with an energizer activity to make the children feel welcomed and excited. With the older group, our EL students led a short and simple discussion on Women’s Rights touching topics like gender equality, mutual respect, and the importance of equal opportunities for all. To keep the mood lively, they incorporated interactive games like hot Potato and Wolf game, which made the environment friendly and engaging. The discussions encouraged the children to reflect on fairness and how they can promote equality in their daily lives.
With the younger children, we switched to fun activities like Hot Potato, Guess Who Am I, Touch and Guess the Object, Face Painting, and Math Bingo with the younger children. These games brought laughter and teamwork the main focus, creating a joyful space where learning felt natural and enjoyable.
The event wrapped up with an open sharing session where the children voiced their thoughts and experiences. Light snacks and a group photo concluded the day, leaving everyone with warm memories. For EL students, the event was a valuable opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills.
