This April saw the completion of the third edition of the DocFest project in four schools across three municipalities in Catalonia. 150 Catalan children from 5th and 6th grade took a virtual journey through Nepal, guided by students from the Amics del Nepal Activity Centre in Kathmandu.
The journey concluded with the screening of the three resulting documentaries, with the participation of Kavita Gurung, director of Amics del Nepal, who is currently visiting Catalonia:
- DocFest in Castellar del Vallès: It was held on April 3rd at the Miquel Pont Municipal Auditorium, with the participation of Joan Blanquer and Mestre Pla schools. Around a hundred people attended the event, including students and their families. The event was organized thanks to the collaboration of the Castellar Town Council and the Pedagogical Resource Centre of Vallès Occidental VIII.

- DocFest in Terrassa: It was held on April 9th at Lanaspa-Giralt School, which has participated in all three editions of the project. This year, once again, around 60 people attended.

- DocFest in Sant Cugat del Vallès: It was held on April 10th at Collserola School, with its three 5th grade classes, setting the attendance record with around 150 people, including 75 students and their families.

The documentaries were edited by Rojan Kumar Thing, a young man who grew up in the Bhimphedi children’s home managed by Amics del Nepal and who is currently a film student supported by Ruta 6. All participating schools gave very positive feedback on the experience and expressed interest in taking part in next year’s edition of DocFest. We hope this project continues to grow and offers more and more people the chance to learn about the wonderful country of Nepal: https://www.amicsnepal.org/en/come-meet-us/school-doc-fest-2/
