Joan Fisse (without an accent, as he used to explain, since his surname, of French origin from the Pyrenees, specifically from Luchon, meant “cheese-making basket” in Old French and, by extension, “cheesemaker”) arrived in Bhimphedi in 2016 with the goal of improving the shelter home’s garden and building a greenhouse, with the efforts of Esther Roselló and other volunteers.
Since then, Joan became a committed Amic del Nepal, co-organizing solidarity lunches in Vilassar de Mar, keeping in touch with our team, and visiting Nepal whenever he could.
On March 16th, Joan passed away. But his memory and our gratitude for his solidarity work will always remain with us.
We are sharing the post he wrote during his first visit to Nepal so that his memory gives us strength and comfort in these moments of grief.
