Expansion Program School Collaboration

Teachers’ Orientation Program

On June 14, 2024, Amics del Nepal held a Teachers’ Orientation Program as part of the School Collaboration (SC) project under the new Expansion Program. A total of 9 teachers from 3 different government schools attended the event wherein teachers discussed Project Based Learning (PBL), its elements and were introduced to the Teachers’ Guidebook. The Teachers’ Guidebook has been produced by the Amics team for an organised and effective implementation of the SC project.

The event started with an introduction between teachers and Amics staff followed by a discussion on PBL. During the discussion, the participants shared their experiences and understanding of PBL, the role of the facilitator, and the benefits of PBL to students. During the last half of the program, Amics staff gave a brief orientation of the Teachers’ Guidebook focusing on its themes and session design. An additional pen drive was also provided containing resources of the guidebook to make teaching and learning more convenient. The program ended with light conversations and snacks.

Since the SC project is based on the agenda of Open Innovations Platform, the orientation program gave space for both teachers and Amics staff to have insightful conversations about PBL and how the Teachers’ Guidebook can be implemented in classroom settings with limited resources. It also gave the participants the platform to learn more about the SC project and their roles as collaborators and beneficiaries. Amics will continue to hold such events in the future to enhance the project through feedback and involve its beneficiaries throughout the project cycle.

SC project is the expansion of the existing Children Program which is an after-school educational program offered to students studying in the neighbouring government schools from grades 6-10. SC aims to create a wider platform by collaborating with the existing partnered schools. The project adopts experiential learning (EL) and project-based learning (PBL) which encourages the beneficiaries to be more creative, develop leadership qualities and a deep sense of social responsibility.

This project is possible thanks to the support of all the members of Amics del Nepal and the collaborating partners:
