On 31st May 2025, Amics del Nepal organized a guest speaker session on Child Sexual Abuse and Cyber Safety to raise awareness among children about the importance of self-protection in both physical and digital spaces. This session was part of Amics’ ongoing educational initiatives aimed at empowering children with essential knowledge for their safety and well-being in today’s world.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Kamala Sunar, an experienced counsellor and Project Officer at Voice of Children, who has worked extensively in child protection and psychosocial counselling. She addressed key issues such as online exploitation, manipulation, and different forms of abuse; physical, emotional, and verbal. Using interactive discussions and real-life examples, Ms. Sunar guided students on identifying unsafe situations, protecting personal and digital privacy, and reporting harmful behaviors to trusted adults or authorities.
Students actively participated in the Q&A session, openly sharing their thoughts, asking questions, and reflecting on their own digital behavior. A safe and supportive environment allowed them to express concerns and better understand their rights and responsibilities. Amics del Nepal remains committed to fostering safe, informed, and resilient communities by continuing to implement such vital awareness programs for children’s holistic development.
