On 5th June 2025, in celebration of World Environment Day, 20 youths from Amics del Nepal’s Youth Program successfully organized and led a community-focused event featuring a Clean-Up Campaign and an Inter-School Drawing Competition. This dual event aimed to promote environmental responsibility while fostering youth leadership, teamwork, and civic engagement.
The Inter-School Drawing Competition brought together over 30 students from Ward 07 schools at Shree Bal Besbasaya Kendra School. Youth leaders took the initiative to open the event, introduce Amics del Nepal, and explain the theme: “Environment.” Participants had one hour to create their artwork, with materials provided and judging handled by professionals from Sirjana College of Fine Arts. Prizes were awarded to the top three entries, and all participants received certificates and refreshments in recognition of their efforts.
Meanwhile, the second group of youths led a Clean-Up Campaign in collaboration with over 35 scouts from Shree Bal Bebasaya School and Shram School. The campaign route stretched from Shram School to Shree Bal Bebasaya School, with participants divided into teams to cover different areas. All collected waste was properly disposed of, and snacks were provided as a token of appreciation.
This event was a powerful demonstration of how youth can take the lead in driving community change. By organizing meaningful, action-oriented activities, the participants of the Youth Program showcased their ability to collaborate, communicate, and advocate for a cleaner, more responsible society. Events like these are vital in empowering youth to become proactive agents of environmental and social impact.
