Expansion Program School Collaboration

School Collaboration Workshop and Closing

The School Collaboration Project was launched as an expansion of the Children Program of Amics del Nepal whose workshops are designed to be student-centric with a  focus on the objectives of Project Based Learning (PBL). These workshops also catered to the need to develop 5Cs life skills i.e. creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and caring. The project was implemented in four partnering public schools among fifth-grade students within a span of five months. Following the agenda of Open Innovations Platform, the Amics team partnered with three teachers in each school to encourage ownership and enable maximum stakeholder engagement.

In the monthly workshops, students learned about Earth, climate change, and solidarity through various activities like mapping their learnings, drama, environment cleanup, and games. The sessions were conducted following the key phases of PBL, namely: research, planning, implementation, and presentation. The students were given problem statements & driving questions that led to finding solutions either by mapping their ideas or through any activities or products. The teachers acted as facilitators to assist students when needed.

The project implemented from June to November 2024 with Amics and school teachers collaboration is now complete. Altogether 156 students and 12 teachers benefited from our project. The workshops helped students become independent learners while fostering the habits of teamwork. It also created a space for teachers to conduct classrooms using the PBL method. Amics plans to collaborate with more public schools in 2025 to help teachers practice and implement PBL and help students to be more creative, and develop leadership qualities as well as a deep sense of social responsibility.

This project is possible thanks to the support of all the members of Amics del Nepal and the collaborating partners:
