International Exchange and Solidarity is a project by Amics del Nepal that focuses on promoting the dialogue and cultural exchange between Catalonia and Nepal. Each year, cultural exchange and dialogue-sharing programs are organised between Amics Kathmandu and Amics Barcelona.
This year the preparations for DocFest and Art and Solidarity events have kicked off in Nepal. As part of DocFest, Children Program (CP) beneficiaries of class 7 at Amics Kathmandu will engage in a cultural and educational exchange program with students from Catalonia where they will create a short documentary based on the culture, food, and lifestyle of Nepal and Catalonia. Similarly, the theme for this year’s Art and Solidarity event is handicrafts, where CP beneficiaries from class 6 will create art inspired by this theme, which will later be exhibited in Catalonia.
Furthermore, two staff members from Amics Nepal will participate in the annual Catalonia visit in 2025. This visit provides Kathmandu staff with an opportunity to share updates about Amics projects with the Barcelona community, engage directly with the board members, and participate in fundraising initiatives.
Furthermore, conversations have started in different groups of women and youth in Nepal to start Mirga, a project of theatrical dialogue.
Through these initiatives, the International Exchange and Solidarity project continues to strengthen cultural connections, encourage collaboration, and promote mutual understanding between the communities of Catalonia and Nepal.
