Children's Home Patan CH Social Week (SW) Youth Program

Upcycling Workshop at Patan Children’s Home

On October 26, an Upcycling Workshop was successfully conducted at Patan Children’s Home. Led by 8 dedicated youths from SW11, the workshop aimed to foster environmental awareness and creativity among students ranging from kindergarten to grade 10.

The session began with a presentation by the SW11 youth, introducing the concept of recycling, its importance, and the different types of recycling. The presentation showcased Caring by addressing the need for sustainability, encouraging students to take action for the environment. To make the learning experience engaging, the workshop included a hands-on activity where students created flower pots using used bottles. This activity highlighted Creativity as students were encouraged to design their pots in unique and imaginative ways, fostering a sense of ownership. The workshop also emphasised Collaboration as the SW11 youths worked closely with the participants, guiding them step-by-step through the upcycling process. Additionally, the activity required Critical Thinking, as students explored practical ways to repurpose waste materials and contribute to sustainability.

To reinforce the learning, a flower showcase was set up, allowing students to plant flowers in their pots and observe their growth, instilling long-term responsibility and environmental consciousness. The workshop was met with enthusiasm and active participation, underscoring its success in inspiring students to adopt sustainable practices and think creatively about environmental solutions.

This project is possible thanks to the support of all the members of Amics de Nepal and the collaborating partners:
