In the Women Hub Project, sessions are designed around the theme of women’s empowerment and social capital. In addition to these sessions, we also organise guest speaker events featuring professionals who can provide valuable insights aligned with the project’s goals, offering women knowledge about creating networks and empowerment. With this objective in mind, on August 4th, 2024, a guest speaker event was held at the Amics Activity Centre. Gita Neupane, a counsellor from the Women’s Foundation Nepal (WFN), spoke about the employment opportunities the organisation provides for women who have been victims of domestic abuse. She also shared her experiences as a counsellor and offered tips for mental well-being. The session was both interactive and engaging.
During the session, Gita shared her experiences as a counsellor through the cases of domestic abuse she has dealt with over the years. Through her cases, she voiced the resilience in those women who despite their circumstances have the will to do something in life and are associated with WFN. They are involved in making beautiful scarves and textiles that are exported to European countries, connecting them with women empowerment. The participants were eager to learn more and were interactive by asking questions. She also discussed the ways WFN and Amics could collaborate in the future.
Since Women Hub focuses on building knowledge, skills, and networks among its beneficiaries, Amics plans to hold such theme-based guest speaker sessions in the future to provide more insights and networking opportunities to women.
