Experiential Sessions Final Event at Patan Children’s Home

Patan Children’s Home is a shelter for girls and infants dedicated to the care and education of children run by Children’s Home organization. Since its foundation, Amics del Nepal has been collaborating and organising six different events every year to make the children engage in fun learning activities related primarily to health and education.

On 20th March, an event was organised for girls, children and women staff on Women Rights theme marking the celebration of International Women’s Day and Amics’  Experiential Sessions. The event was organised with the support from Experiential Sessions students as well as youth from the Social Week project. The main objective of the session was to sensitise girls and women about their rights and responsibilities. Around 50 girls including children and women staff from Children’s Home observed the event.

The experiential sessions group presented their final output as a drama based on Women Rights theme where the issue of women violence that is still prevailing in Nepal was shown. A part of the What If theme was also presented where scenarios like women in power, or slightly opposite worlds were shown in the drama. Besides this, performances such as poems, song and dance were also performed by students and youth from Amics Activity Centre. Furthermore, face painting and message chart activity was also carried out during the event.

Overall the event went successfully. It was quite a different event observed by all the girls and children from Patan Children’s Home. Also, it was a new exposure for the Experiential Sessions’ children to perform and participate in an event outside Amics Activity Centre.
