Expansion Program Namuna Bari

Namuna Bari’s new equipment

One of the primary aims of our Namuna Bari kitchen garden has been to make the Balmandir in Bhimphedi as sustainable as possible. This has proven crucial during these last three months of lockdown imposed nationwide because of the Coronavirus. With this in mind, we have upgraded our machinery equipment. Till now, our fields were being ploughed manually in the traditional way with the help of oxen. This method requires much effort and is very time consuming. With the purchase of our new hand tractor, our work will be much efficient giving us more time for other project activities.

On the construction side, green and black tunnel houses have been made ready. These tunnel houses will provide an eco-friendly environment for our plants to grow, and will also increase its production rate to reach our goals and help sustain Balmandir.

Similarly, regular plantation and caring of the vegetable cultivation is being carried out continuously. Some crop varieties planted during this season are cauliflower, cabbage, eggplant, chilli, maize, lady’s finger, beans and some other climber plants. A few varieties have also been harvested. Simultaneously, seeds have been planted for generating tomato and cabbage seedlings.

The Namuna Bari project is made possible by the support of Ateneu del Món and the City Council of Sant Quirze del Vallès
