In Balmandir there is always work to do and things to repair. One more year the visit of the Tonyo has allowed us to do a whole series of improvements: the floor of the study room has been renovated, the entire roundabout was painted, the slide and swings were fixed and painted, the mosquito net of all the windows that were broken have been repaired, metallic glasses, office supplies, cleaning materials, bulbs and care material have been purchased to fill the first aid kit.
This month was time to plant potatoes. With the coordination of UPC agronomic students and the help of Tonyo and the children of Balmandir, we have decided to increase the space for planting. This fact has opened up a new problem: we can not water such a large surface with the existing water points. So, a new water tank of 1000l, new hoses, taps and 4 sprinklers has been purchased to be able to supply the new cultivation area.
Paint and paint brushes have been purchased to paint the entire porch, we use from clothes rack, to a dark green colour that makes it cleaner and more beautiful. It has been a week of work, first, we had to wash it and then paint it. We have been doing it little by little with the children collaboration… But after talking with the elders and tell them that they have to collaborate more with the improvement work of the house, they have responded in the best way, and the next day they took the paintbrushes and the paint that had left us and they painted everything they could until the painting was finished. Now Balmandir reigns in the dark green colour, it’s really great!
